PRIVATE FAMILY LIFE IS NOT FOR SALE.
KYREC does not and will not sell personal information or private family stories. We aim to collect only what is needed, explain why it is needed and keep people in control.
1. Who this policy covers
KYREC is an early-stage family-technology project based in Perth, Western Australia. In this policy, “KYREC”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of KYREC.au.
This policy covers KYREC.au, messages sent to KYREC and information connected with any future reservation or purchase made through this website. A released KYREC app or product may need an additional, product-specific privacy notice before it collects information.
2. Information we may collect
Depending on how you use the website, we may collect:
- Contact information, such as your name, email address and the contents of a support request.
- Order or reservation information, such as the item, amount, payment status, receipt or transaction reference and any delivery details required for the offer.
- Technical information processed by website hosting and security services, such as your IP address, browser and device type, requested pages, access dates and times and security logs.
- Information you choose to provide when asking a question, requesting a refund, joining a future waitlist or responding to research.
- Website chat messages you choose to send through the Ask KYREC guide, together with the recent messages needed to answer within that chat.
The current public website does not ask families to upload private conversations, health records or live family location data. If a future app proposes to collect sensitive or family information, KYREC will explain the purpose and request appropriate permission first.
3. Payments through Square
If Square checkout is enabled, Square will process the payment and may collect payment, identity, fraud-prevention and transaction information. KYREC may receive the customer and transaction details needed to confirm the purchase, provide support, issue receipts and manage refunds. KYREC does not directly store full payment card numbers.
Square manages payment information under its own Buyer Privacy Notice.
4. How we use information
- To operate, secure and improve KYREC.au.
- To answer questions, provide support and keep a record of requests.
- To generate an answer when you choose to use the Ask KYREC website guide.
- To process future payments, reservations, receipts, refunds and delivery.
- To prevent fraud, misuse and security incidents.
- To meet accounting, tax, legal and regulatory obligations.
- To send product or project updates only where you have asked for them or the law otherwise permits.
Ask KYREC website guide
Ask KYREC uses an OpenAI service to generate answers about KYREC. When you send a message, the message and limited recent chat context are sent for processing so the answer can be returned. The guide is not intended for private family stories, medical details, emergency information, passwords, payment information or live location details.
KYREC configures these requests not to be stored through the OpenAI API where that control is available. Technical security records may still be processed for service protection. Website chat messages are not sold or used by KYREC to create advertising profiles.
Future product learning and pattern summaries
KYREC's planned product design is to learn from limited, purpose-specific summaries of patterns or structured events for features a family has deliberately enabled—not from a retained archive of private conversations, raw audio or personal stories.
A summary can still be personal or sensitive information when it relates to an identifiable person or family. It must therefore remain protected by clear permissions, a stated purpose, appropriate security, limited retention and the access, correction and deletion choices described for the released product.
If a person directly asks a future companion a question, the request may need to be processed to provide the answer. Processing a request does not give KYREC permission to sell it, turn it into an advertising profile or keep it as a private family-story archive. A product-specific privacy notice will explain the actual data flow before that feature is released.
5. When information may be shared
We may share only the information reasonably needed with service providers that help host, secure, communicate, process payments, generate a requested website-chat answer or deliver an offer. These may include website hosting, OpenAI, email and Square payment services. We may also disclose information where required by law, to respond to fraud or security risks, or to protect people and legal rights.
NO SELLING PRIVATE FAMILY STORIES.
KYREC does not sell, rent, barter or trade personal information or private family content for money, advertising access or another commercial benefit. Private family content includes non-public conversations, messages, audio, images, location information, routines, check-ins, wellbeing inputs and patterns or inferences connected to them.
This does not prevent KYREC from giving the minimum necessary information to a contracted service provider solely to operate, secure or support a chosen feature, or from making a disclosure directed by the user or required by law. Those limited disclosures are not permission for an independent advertising profile, data brokerage, unrelated use or onward sale.
6. Cookies and technical services
Hosting, security and payment providers may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary to provide their services, remember settings, prevent fraud or complete checkout. If KYREC later introduces optional analytics or advertising technologies, this policy and any required notice or consent controls will be updated before they are used.
7. Children and family information
Purchases and reservations must be made by an adult. The current public website is not a child account service and is not designed to collect personal information directly from children. Future family features will require age-appropriate design, clear adult controls and separate privacy information before launch.
8. Storage, security and retention
We take reasonable steps appropriate to the project stage to protect information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. No internet service can promise absolute security. Information is kept only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, for support and dispute handling, or to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements. It is then deleted or de-identified where appropriate.
9. Overseas processing
Some technology providers may process or store information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries in which those providers operate. Their own privacy notices explain their locations and safeguards. Where required, KYREC will take reasonable steps when selecting and working with those providers.
10. Access, correction, deletion and complaints
You can ask what personal information KYREC holds about you, request a correction or deletion, or make a privacy complaint by emailing hello@kyrec.au. We may need to verify your identity and may need to retain some records where required by law. We aim to respond to privacy complaints within 30 days.
If a privacy concern cannot be resolved directly, information about privacy rights and complaints is available from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
11. Updates and contact
This policy may change as KYREC products and information practices develop. The current version and date of update will remain available on this page. Questions can be sent to hello@kyrec.au.
